Duncan Pritchard is an environmental professional in the industry for the past 15 years with a special focus on responsible tourism and Carbon Footprint Management. Duncan holds a Bachelors Degree in Geography and Development studies, Member of the Carbon Protocol of Southern Africa, a Global Carbon Exchange certified Carbon Analyst and a members of the KwaZulu-Natal Climate Change Council.
Having started his career as a bird guide in the Okavango Delta and Namibia, Duncan spent 10 years working for BirdLife South Africa developing birding routes, the Zululand Birding Route being the first and most popular of the routes. This has also included developing birding tourism strategies and marketing plans across Southern Africa and as far afield as Australia, Canada, Mexico and more recently in Rwanda.
Duncan has been a delegate and presented to the Global Ecotourism Society Conference, the IUCN World Summit, BirdLife International Conventions and numerous panels and working groups on environmental matters and avitourism nationally and internationally. Through his work Duncan is best able to follow his strong belief that positively linking the natural environment to people’s social and economic environments is one of the best ways to ensure our natural heritage is valued and conserved for future generations.
